We would like to introduce probably the youngest
field tester in the country today.
Phoebe was born in October 2000 into to an Angling family, Dad, Grahame and Mum Julie have both fished from a young age and have encouraged fishing as a family hobby. AS all children should Phoebe first started float and pole fishing, Phoebe had her first fish, a crucian carp when she was three years old and has been hooked ever since. She landed her first double figure carp at 5 years old a 10lb 3oz Mirror from an Essex Club water. More fish followed with carp to 12lb 9oz taken on the pole.
A promising career as a match angler loomed. But following a slideshow presented by Derek Ritchie in January 2007 Phoebe has dedicated most of her angling time to carp fishing (although she still cannot resist a shoal of Rudd), working hard on her watercraft and trying to understand exactly what is going on under the lake surface and coming to terms with all aspect of carp fishing. Phoebe spends most weekends and nearly all her school holidays on the lake watching the water and learning the craft. The commitment she has shown has paid off with some great results and a current English PB of 20lb 2oz with a Leather taken from an Essex Gravel Pit last summer. Her current European PB is a 24lb 12oz Mirror stalked from a marginal snag on an estate lake in France.
Phoebe has made the pages of CarpTalk and the local press on a number of occasions in the past year. We at ECB have great belief in this young lady and if she continues with the same degree of dedication we will all be reading Phoebes column in the carp press in the future. I hope you will all join us at ECB in following Phoebe’s progress. We wish her luck in her plans this year to beat her PB and the two weeks she has booked in Europe already for 2010.
